Sixteen students competed in the empire Mock Trial World finals in New York in October. The students received the case back in June and worked tirelessly over the summer months, weekends and after school in preparation for this prestigious final. The team had to prepare both the prosecution and defence sides of the case as well as preparing their characters for court. These characters included attorneys and witnesses for both prosecution and defence.
The team also had to learn the intricacies of the American legal system and how to present a case in an American court. Their remarkable performance throughout the competition secured them the highest marks of all the international teams, placing ahead of Australia, Canada, Korea, UK and China. Christina O’Donovan, was one of only four attorneys selected out of the whole competition to compete in the Gladiator One to One Mock trial World finals in California in July 2016.
